Pink clouds were giving way to blue
The day dawning promising to be crisp and clear
A pet winter’s day
My mind formed the words.
I did not know what this day would hold
A new phenomenon for me.
Tired now after walking the city
My companion
The echo of my once expensive shoes
Familiar faces
Laughter, restaurants, hotels,
Bars, clubs, the best cars, houses,
Floated in front of me.
That life now dead.
